Dear sir,
I'm having a problem with my camera. Sony wants 181.00 just to look at it. That is totally outragious. Can you help me find something close to this camera?
Thank you
Kathy Barry
Hello Kathy,
I am sorry to hear that Sony is charging that much, just to look at your camera. If you really really love your camera I would look around for a camera repair shop and see what options you might have there.
Other than that, I have looked up your Dimage 404 specs and did a search on this site for a comparable camera under $200. I was not sure of your budget but I imagine you would prefer to buy a new one for the price Sony quoted you.
I noticed your dimage can record videos. I know many people don't use that feature but I think my family does 50% of the time. Saying that, I have taken this into account since you didn't say anything about video.
For under $200 you have two brand choices, Canon or Panasonic. Canon has a few models but the Canon A430 gets more bang for your buck. The down side to this camera is battery life, you only get 90ish shots from 2 AA batteries.
The other model is the Panasonic DMC-LZ3 camera which has a more optical zoom & megapixels than your dimage as well as the Canon A430 (mentioned above). It also boasts a movie mode with 30 frames per second (the same as Canon A430 too) but apparently it has no sound. If you don't use the movie mode then you won't miss the sound thing. The panasonic has a much longer battery life than the canon, 250 images. Both cameras can use SD or MMC memory cards, which are cheap these days. The panasonic does not come with a memory card but 14mb is already built in, whereas the canon does give a 16mb card. So, if you decide to buy the panasonic you will need to buy a memory card too, as 14mb (nor 16mb for that matter) is very large and easy to fill up.
Here are the links for both cameras and the link to find all the camera choices - similar to your dimage - under $200.
Panasonic DMC-LZ3, Canon A430 & Similar to Dimage 404 & under $200
I hope that helps. If you have more questions please ask.

2.0 Megapixels digital video camera/
thanks Nancy
Hello Nancy,
I found the manual for this camera in in pdf format. If you do not have Acrobat Reader (for pdf files) then click here to download it. Once you do that you can read the manual. Here is the link for the DXG 202 Manual. If you also received the usb cable for that camera you can upload your pictures with it. If you are running Windows XP you shouldn't need any other software. If you aren't running XP you might need to download the DXG 202 Driver. The manual should mention something about that. If all else fails you can try calling DXG: (626) 839-6528 extension 192.
I hope this solves your problem.

Did anyone buy something from Edshop-electronics (online store).they got very good prices.I wanna hear your opinion before buying from there.
thanks
Hello Heseck,
I tried visiting their site but it was down. I did get a look at the google cached page and see some of their pricing structure. I sell camera gear from another website and I know when I see some shady practices going on. In this case, Edshop-electronics, it seems they are shipping from overseas, maybe China. So, you probably won't get a USA warranty nor a manual / software in English. If you are strictly looking for rock bottom prices then remember you normally forfeit good customer service.
The old saying, "if it looks to good to be true then it probably is" should be mentioned here. Again, I could not load their site but from my selling and business to business buying experience has been to be careful.
Let's us know how the transaction goes if you decide to buy.

I just finished calling western union to get my money transfer reversed. THEY ARE A SCAM, 1st i was supposed to receive everything last week, they never even picked up the money from western union. so i tried emailing them, all the emails got sent back to me undeliverable, then i tried to log onto their website and it can no longer be found!!!!! owell, good prices, but what the f*&^. people stink, at least i only lost 31.80 not my 600.00.
what shall i do so that my computer will recognize my camera : Nikon Coolpix S2. I cannot transfer the pictures
Hi Robert,
Here are some tips to get your computer to reconize your images.
1) Be sure you installed any Nikon software that came with your camera.
2) If you use Windows XP, you shouldn't need anything at all. But you should check your harddrive to make sure your USB hardware is working properly.
3) If the above does not work, consider buying a card reader. This camera uses a SD memory card so I would try getting a SD card reader, or consider an ALL-IN-ONE card reader.
I hope that helps,
